Julia Grawenhoff uses a combination of biochemical in vitro reconstitution and imaging approaches to study motor protein-mediated transport of messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complexes along microtubules. She is interested in understanding the molecular basis with which neuronal mRNAs are differentially sorted between neurites and soma depending on the length of their 3’UTRs.
